100 Days Of The King - Day 73

This is a delightful black light reinterpretation of a classic Jack Kirby and Dick Ayers full-page splash from the pages of Fantastic Four. The 3-D quality is no doubt what attracted the poster makers, a firm called Third Eye to this image with the spires rising up to puncture the eye.

Here's the the page in its original form with normal coloring and lettering intact.

The page comes from Fantastic Four #7 which showcased the Fab 4 heading into space to battle the predations of Kurrgo the Master of Planet X, a little guy who had big plans.

Kurrgo rated a pin-up page in the first Fantastic Four annual though unlike many who got the same treatment, he failed to get a return engagement against the FF. I think the next time this outer space dope got a second stab was against the Thing in pages of Marvel Feature which would kick off Marvel Two-In-One.

  1. Wow, how have I read that issue several times but didn't recognize that splash page? It is stunning!

    1. I'm guilty of the same thing. When I first saw this poster many years ago, I didn't recognize the source.
