Blue Beetle Seven-Up!

Scott Kowlachuk

Here's a tasty bit of classy, modern artwork by Canadian artist Scott Kowlachuk, who offers up what Blue Beetle #7 from Charlton might've been like if it had ever existed.

Steve Ditko

This homage is a great callback to the outstanding Steve Ditko artwork for Blue Beetle #1.

Here's a link to Scott's Snazzy Sketchblog for more of his work.

  1. "The Squids" was probably my favorite Blue Beetle story from that time, a fun read that reminded me of the original Ditko Spiderman stories.
Charlton often gets a bad rap from fans, but there was nothing else like them, nor were they trying to copy anyone.

    1. You put it well. Charlton is bashed for its cheapness, but that cheapness and efficiency allowed them to survive long after most of their peers had vanished from the stands. And Charlton comics looked and felt like no other comics.
